Toilet Paper Roll Bird Feeder

Happy Earth Day! I wanted to find a fun outside activity that I could do with my 3-year-old. I searched Pinterest for Earth Day activities for kids and came across this super fun and easy toilet paper roll bird feeder (http://www.kidskubby.com/toilet-paper-roll-crafts/2/). I wanted to teach my son about taking care of the environment and this was great because it uses a toilet paper roll, which would otherwise be thrown in the recycling bin.

The materials needed for this project include:

  • Toilet paper roll
  • Peanut butter
  • Birdseed
  • Butter knife
  • Bowl

We started by using the butter knife to spread the peanut butter in a thin layer on the toilet paper roll.

Next we rolled the peanut butter covered toilet paper roll in a bowl full of birdseed. This was my son’s favorite part 🙂

This is the final product! It was so easy and fun.

We hung the bird feeder on a tree in our yard. Hopefully we’ll start seeing birds soon!
